How to connect OpenCart to ManteIQ with the module

Upload manteiq.ocmod.zip under Extensions › Installer, install the ManteIQ Connector under Extensions › Extensions › Modules, then copy the shop address and key from its settings page into ManteIQ. It takes about two minutes, works on OpenCart 3.0 and 4, and the module only reads.

Connect in about two minutes

  • 4steps: three in the OpenCart admin, one in ManteIQUpload, install, copy, paste
  • ~2 minfrom the zip file to a connected shopFirst order read runs after that
  • 3.0 and 4OpenCart lines, tested on 3.0.5.1 and 4.1.0.4PHP 7.2 to 8.5

What you need before you start

You need an OpenCart 3.0 or 4 shop that you can log in to as an administrator, a shop address that opens in a browser, and a ManteIQ account. OpenCart has no API for reading orders, so ManteIQ reads through a small module that you install once.

  • Admin access to the shop, because you will upload and install an extension.
  • The shop's own address, for example https://your-shop.com, not the address of the admin.
  • A shop that is not in maintenance mode and does not block visitors with a security check.

We tested the module on OpenCart 3.0.5.1 and 4.1.0.4, and its reading code runs on PHP 7.2 to 8.5. We have not tested OpenCart 4.0.0 or 4.0.1. If you run another release and it does not connect, tell us the version.

Download the file for your OpenCart version

There is one file for OpenCart 4 and one for OpenCart 3, and both are named manteiq.ocmod.zip. Keep that name exactly: OpenCart names the extension after the file, and a renamed copy such as manteiq.ocmod (1).zip is refused with Invalid file type.

Both downloads are on the OpenCart page and on ManteIQ's Sources screen once you have an account.

Open the OpenCart page

Upload the file under Extensions › Installer

Open Extensions, then Installer, and upload the file. On OpenCart 4 the upload button is the blue one at the top right, and you then install the extension from the list. OpenCart 3 installs it as soon as the upload finishes.

OpenCart 4.1.0.4, Extensions › Installer. ManteIQ Connector is already installed here, so it shows an orange minus. Before you install it, the row is grey with a green plus, like the examples below it.
The Extension Installer page of OpenCart 3.0.5.1 with an Upload File button, an empty install progress bar and an Install History table that lists manteiq.ocmod.zip.
OpenCart 3.0.5.1, Extensions › Installer. Press Upload, pick manteiq.ocmod.zip, and it appears in Install History when it is done.

Install the module under Extensions › Extensions › Modules

Uploading is only the first half. Open Extensions, then Extensions again, choose Modules in the extension type list, find ManteIQ Connector, click Install (the plus button), then Edit (the pencil button). The module makes its key at the moment you install it.

  1. Open Extensions › Extensions and choose Modules in the extension type list.
  2. Find ManteIQ Connector in the list. It sits in alphabetical order.
  3. Click the green plus button to install it. It turns into a red minus.
  4. Click the blue pencil button to open its settings page.
The OpenCart 4.1.0.4 extension list with Modules chosen in the type dropdown. The ManteIQ Connector row has a blue pencil and a red minus button, and the uninstalled modules around it have a green plus.
OpenCart 4.1.0.4, Modules selected. The top and the rows around ManteIQ Connector come from the same page, with the middle of the list left out.
The OpenCart 3.0.5.1 extension list with Modules chosen. The ManteIQ Connector row shows Enabled with a blue pencil and a red minus button.
OpenCart 3.0.5.1, Modules selected. This version also shows a Status column.

Copy the shop address and the key

The module's settings page shows the shop address and a key, each with a Copy button, and a status switch. Copy both. The address has to be the one your shop loads at in a browser, and the key has to be copied whole.

The ManteIQ Connector page in the OpenCart admin: the shop address, the key with Copy and Make a new key buttons, and the status switch, which is on.

Paste both values into ManteIQ

In ManteIQ, open Sources (or the Your shop card while you set up), choose OpenCart, paste the shop address and the key and press Connect. ManteIQ checks the key against your shop before it saves anything, which takes a few seconds.

The first read pulls sixteen months of orders, so your first briefing has comparisons from day one. After that ManteIQ reads the shop every two hours, in pages, one request at a time. Sync now reads on the spot and shows each step.

ManteIQ's sync dialog for OpenCart, titled OpenCart is up to date, with five finished steps: reaching your shop, reading orders, reading order lines and coupons, looking up new products and saving orders.
The dialog Sync now opens, on a test shop. This one is an update read, and the first read goes through the same steps with your full history.

What the module reads, and nothing else

The module answers read requests only, and it has no code that writes to your orders, products or customers. It adds one settings page and touches no theme or template.

When OpenCart does not connect: causes and fixes

Most failed connections come down to one of five things, and ManteIQ names the one it found. Match the message you see in the table.

The messages ManteIQ and OpenCart show when the module does not connect, with the fix for each.

In ManteIQ

The key doesn't match this shop
Cause
The key in ManteIQ is not the one the module holds now. Someone pressed Make a new key, or the key was copied only in part
Fix
Copy the key again from the module's page and paste it under Sources
We reached your shop, but the ManteIQ Connector isn't installed there
Cause
The address answers, but the module does not. The file was uploaded and never installed, or the address is the admin's
Fix
Finish the install under Extensions › Extensions › Modules, and use the shop's own address
The ManteIQ Connector is switched off in your shop
Cause
The status switch on the module's page is off
Fix
Switch it on and save
Your shop answered with a page instead of data
Cause
Maintenance mode, or a security check in front of the shop, answered in place of the module
Fix
Switch maintenance mode off, or allow ManteIQ through the firewall, then try again

In OpenCart

Invalid file type when you upload
Cause
The browser renamed the download, for example to manteiq.ocmod (1).zip
Fix
Rename it back to manteiq.ocmod.zip and upload it again

A challenge page from Cloudflare or another firewall reads exactly like a refused key. ManteIQ names the firewall when it can and shows the allow rule to add.

How to pause, replace or remove the module

You can pause the reads, replace the key or remove the module at any time, and each one takes effect at once.

  • To pause, switch the module's status off. ManteIQ stops reading, and the module stays installed.
  • To replace the key, press Make a new key. The old key stops working immediately, so paste the new one into ManteIQ.
  • To remove it, uninstall the module under Extensions › Extensions › Modules. Its key is deleted and the reads stop.
  • To disconnect on our side, use Disconnect in ManteIQ, which destroys the key we stored. Deleting your ManteIQ account removes the stored data too.

Questions about the OpenCart module

Why do I need a module to connect OpenCart?
OpenCart has no API for reading orders. Its built-in API belongs to the admin's order editor: it creates orders and cannot list them. The module adds a read-only way in, and that is all it does.
Which OpenCart versions does the module work with?
OpenCart 3.0 and 4. We tested 3.0.5.1 and 4.1.0.4, and the reading code runs on PHP 7.2 to 8.5. We have not tested OpenCart 4.0.0 or 4.0.1.
Is the ManteIQ Connector free?
Yes. ManteIQ itself starts with a 30-day trial with no card, and the plans are on the pricing page.
Can the module change anything in my shop?
No. It answers read requests only and has no code that writes to your orders, products or customers. It adds one settings page and touches no theme or template.
Where do I find the key after I installed the module?
Open Extensions › Extensions, choose Modules, and click the pencil next to ManteIQ Connector. The page shows the shop address and the key, each with a Copy button.
How long does the setup take?
About two minutes: three steps in the OpenCart admin and one in ManteIQ. The first read of your order history runs once, and your first briefing arrives the next morning.
What if my shop is behind Cloudflare or a firewall?
ManteIQ reads the shop over the web, so the firewall has to let it through. A challenge page reads exactly like a refused key. ManteIQ names the vendor when it can and shows the allow rule to add.
